Track 5: It's a . . . →
We were sitting in the waiting room today and sharing a Tozer book together, reading about Abraham and Isaac. Tozer talked about how God let the suffering old man go through with offering his son up to the point where He knew there would be no retreat, and then He forbade Abraham from laying a hand on Isaac. But the point was made.
Tozer says of Abraham that God never wanted to slay the lad, but wanted to remove him from the temple of his heart - "to correct the perversion that existed in your love."
Our Father knows what we need. He knows how to protect us. We couldn’t ask for better words to prepare our hearts as we begin this mysterious new chapter in life. It’s a beautiful anticipation of what’s to come, but those words bring the starry eyed wanderer right back to the altar. Right back to the Truth that cannot be ignored or abandoned without cost: that God must be first.
Nothing can come before Him. No idol of gold or flesh or of perfection or beauty shall be established in the hearts of His children.
Our hearts are His alone to rule and to reign unchallenged. From that point of surrender we learn to truly love.
Today we got to see our Baby Girl. We got to see her little feet and toes hiding the area we were all eager to see! We got to watch her make fists and dramatically pose them on her forehead. We zoomed in on all four chambers of her heart that have been developed now for many weeks. We wiped our cheeks constantly, only looking away from the screen to gaze at each other and smile or kiss.
We’re out of our minds in love with her. Because we are out of our minds in love with her Creator.
